The following quote is from my master, D.W. Frommer II.
" Factories produce an acceptable, perhaps even good, product for the average individual. But this averaging is, in itself, a leveling, a reducing, to the lowest common denominator. What is lost, both to the craftsman and the consumer, is the ability to recognize and appreciate excellence. Given that, the question arises as to how a craftsman, whether he be a silversmith, cabinetmaker, blacksmith or bootmaker, can justify working to a standard of excellence that most people cannot recognize--- if we accept such averaging as good or even normal, in other words, it goes without saying that the pressure to take short cuts are enormous. "
I'm horribly behind in my work. I will not rush or take short cuts. I also need to be kind and compassionate to all of my clients no matter what type of work I am performing for them.
I am experiencing business growth right now and "growing pains" are a part of that process. Please feel free to contact me through whichever format: call, text, messager, email, snail mail, or drop in at the Mankato Makerspace while I am there. I'll answer you honestly and that answer might be that I have not started your footwear yet. I'm trying to balance shoe and boot orders, repairs, teaching, marketing presentations, and learning new techniques and technology challenges. I'm trying to keep my calendar updated, but that is one of the technology challenges with which I am dealing (some of us aren't 25 year old techies).
